Walt Brobst
Officer Walt Brobst was born and raised in San Diego County with a passion for serving his community and investing in the next generation. His unique background in military service, law enforcement, pastoral ministry, coaching, and mentoring has shaped his commitment to building relationships and helping young people discover their strengths and purpose.
Walt served in the Navy and Air Force Reserve before beginning his law enforcement career with the Riverside Sheriff’s Department and the San Diego Police Department. He also brings years of experience in youth ministry, church planting, discipleship, pastoral leadership, and military chaplaincy. He studied at Liberty University and earned a Master of Divinity from Westminster Seminary California.
Walt has supported STAR/PAL for two summers, including facilitating Let’s Be Pals, and joined the STAR/PAL team full time as an officer in 2026. Through STAR/PAL, he is passionate about helping youth develop character, confidence, resilience, and leadership while building positive relationships between young people and law enforcement.
His approach to mentoring is simple: listen first, build trust, encourage growth, and walk alongside young people as they become confident and responsible young adults.
Behind all that Walt does is the love and support of his wife and five children. He is deeply grateful for their constant encouragement and recognizes that he is able to serve, lead, and invest in others because of the support and partnership of his family. They are his greatest source of inspiration and motivation.
“My hope is to build bridges of trust—one relationship, one conversation, and one young person at a time.”
